Mage Cage FAQ

  1. Why some connected configurations not supported
Though we designed the Mage Cage to be very durable and flexible some configurations still put more stress on the connections than is ideal for travel. Configurations that have a flat top allow for the handles to cross units and hold the stacks together during travel and the occasional bumps.
  2. I have connected up to 16 units together and they seem to work how come only a max of 12 is supported?
Again in order to make the Mage Cage work comfortably at 12 we designed the handle to be strong enough to hold more weight than 12 would hold. But much like overclocking a CPU on a computer, you may gain some use in going above the recommendation but you also take a greater risk that a unit will fail under constant usage.
  3. Why do you only make black and grey, will there be other colors?
Black and Grey are neutral colors accepted most by consumers. We chose both because Black looks nice and Grey displays nice. As far as other colors go, we are looking into additional colors as Limited Edition options and if any are popular enough we may mass produce one or two additional colors depending on demand and retailer feedback.
  4. Are you planning a version for D&D and Star Wars Minis?
As a matter of fact we have learned that the Mage Cage does indeed support these types of minis as is. In fact we had planned to design our upcoming insert so that these units would fit without assistance from any kind of space filler but as they are they work great. You can fit 25 to 30 in each Mage Cage. Here's how:
    1. Each D&D or Star Wars Plastic mini comes with it's own card. It takes 3 of these cards with sleeves on them or 4 without sleeves to add enough filler for a unit to fit snuggly in the Mage Cage.
    2. Insert 3 to 4 character cards between the ribs and the top or bottom of the MageCage
    3. Insert the 3 to 4 units belonging to those cards between the cards and the ribs.
    4. One note on this though, the Mage Cage is not long enough to insert 4 cards end to end so there is a slight overlap of cards on one end as a result there is a space on top and bottom that will not hold a fig though it would be wide enough the overlap takes up to much space. Depending on the base width of the figs inserted it is still possible to insert close to 30 figs
  5. What other products does the Mage Cage support?
In addtion to Heroclix, Mageknight, Mechwarrior, Crimson Skies, MLB clix, D&D, and Star Wars minis, we are currently designing an insert that will be configurable to display and transport assembled ships from Pirates of the Spanish Main as well as cards, dice, pens, tokens, objects, counters, or whatever else you may want to carry for the games you are playing.
